April 2024​

  • Twelve Hangry Jurors is now available for licensing through Pioneer Drama Service. Check out their website: HERE.

  • Steven's ten minute-play Sidequest was performed as part of Ghostlight Theatre Ensemble's Festival 10 in Brentwood, California.

  • Twelve Hangry Jurors was first performed by the Mynderse Academy Drama Club at SUNY Oswego DramaFest. The production was directed by Anna Luisi-Ellis.

  • Date With Death is going to be performed at the Ballarat National Theatre in Victoria, Australia this July!

  • In May, the students of West Texas A&M will be performing Playing With Fired and George Orwell's 1989 as part of their senior director showcase!

  • Steven's new one comedic act play 12 Hangry Jurors is currently available to read on the New Play Exchange. Synopsis: "After hours of heated deliberation, twelve jurors struggle to come to a consensus...on what to order for lunch."

  • Sidequest was named a finalist in Rover Dramawerks 10 Minute Comedy Contest!

December 2023​

  • REPC's production of Hugo Saves Christmas...in May! received five nominations for the BroadwayWorld Off-Broadway Awards. Nominations include: - Best New Play, Best Production of a Play, Best Performance in a Play (Ethan Thomas), Best Performance in a Play (Lex E. Rojas), Best Direction of a Play (RJ VerChaud and Jillian Faye Liebman)

  • Steven's new play Sidequest was one of 20 short plays selected, out of over 1000 submissions, to be a part of Ghostlight Theatre Ensemble's Festival 10 this April.

November 2023​

  • Steven's two short plays, BFFL's Remorse and Playing With Fired, will be included Rebound Productions' Fall Showcase in London on November 23rd.

 

October 2023​

  • This December, the directing students at Iowa State University will be performing Date With Death as part of their final project showcase!

  • Keep the Music Going had it its stage debut at Atlantic Acting School's Conservatory One-Act Festival. The production was directed by Nemuna Ceesay and starred Yasmin Keita and RJ Wilson.

  • On May 20 & 21, Hugo Saves Christmas...in May! will have it's NYC debut at Alchemical Studios. Produced by Roaring Epiphany Production Company, the production is directed by RJ VerChaud and Jillian Faye Liebman and stars Ethan Thomas, Lex E. Rojas, Haley Rice, and Maxine Turenne.   • On April 26-30, the FDU University Players performed Talking Points in their “4 to 1: Four Stories, One Stage” production directed Emory Osmani.

  • Method, a short screenplay, advanced to the Quarterfinalist in The Script Lab's 5th Annual Screenplay Contest. Only 1,000 scripts of 11,900 submissions advance.

  • Out of the Box's production of Everlasting Chocolate Therapy received four nominations for the BroadwayWorld Oklahoma Audience Awards.   • Date With Death will be performed by the Rutgers NJIT Theatre Program as part of The Directors' Project on November 16-19, directed by Veronica Papianni.

  • Alicia Rene Beck received two nominations for Best Actress from the Korea International Short Film Festival and the Busan New Wave Short Film Festival for her performance as Spencer in Dinosaur.

  • Dinosaur was named an Official Selection of the CUT International Film Festival in Millville, NJ!

  • Dinosaur was named an Official Selection of the Adirondack Film Festival in Glens Falls, NY this October!

  • Steven received a nomination for Best Screenplay from the Busan New Wave Short Film Festival in South Korea for Keep the Music Going!

  

 

August 2022​

  • Steven's new play Hugo Saves Christmas...in May! had a staged reading produced by Roaring Epiphany Production Company on August 27th at ART/New York.

  • The short play Dinosaur was part of Gaffney Little Theatre's Summer 2022 One Act Festival in South Carolina running August 25-27!

July 2022

  • Playing With Fired will be performed this month by students at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, TX and Normandale Community College in Bloomington, MN!

  • Date With Death will be performed by the directing students of Florida Southern College in Lakeland, FL at the historic Fletcher Theatre, designed by architect Frank Lloyd Wright.

  • A Clue in the Library will be performed by the students of Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas at their 2022 Festival of New Works.

March 2022​

  • Keep the Music Going had the honor of screening at the “Life, the Universe, & Everything Symposium on Science Fiction and Fantasy” in Provo, Utah where it received “The Hope Award” for its theme of connection and perseverance.

​

  • The short film Dinosaur was named an Official Selection of both the Reel Love Film Festival and Clapperboard Golden Film Festival!

February 2022

  • Everlasting Chocolate Therapy will be performed by Out of the Box, the student-run theatre group at Oklahoma City University! Directed by Grant Wilson, performances will be March 10th and 11th.

  • On January 29, A Clue in the Library will be opening at Short+Sweet Dubai in their Week 1 "Contenders" line-up!

  • On January 28, as part of their weekly reading series, Theatre Unmasked performed The Wrong Jen Harper.

  • Playing with Fired was named a Semi-Finalist in Madlab's Theatre Roulette 2022, making it one of the top 100 out of the 1,000 plays submitted!

  • Playing with Fired was named a Semi-Finalist in the Players Workshop's Diez Minutos festival in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico!

  • Theatre Unmasked's Zoom presentation of Everlasting Chocolate Therapy received ten nominations for the Broadway World Off-Broadway Awards. Nominations include: Best Streaming New PlayBest Streaming Play, Best Direction Of A Streaming Play Or Musical (Brynne Piesco), Best Performance in a Streaming Play (Randy Hunt, Katie Lynn Sinicki, Arielle Mandelberg, Nicholas Hipple, and Khari Johnson), Best Sound Design of a Streaming Play (Jessie Dorsey), and Best Video Editing of a Streaming Play or Musical (Jessie DorseyVotes can be cast until December 31st: HERE.

  • Dinosaur was adapted by the Recover Me Project into a beautiful short film directed by Aaron Ford and starring Alicia Renee Beck & Mickey Tron. The Recover Me Project is a fantastic organization that uses original short films and visual arts to promote an educational and community orientated understanding of mental illness. Proceeds from their event went to support the Trevor Project and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

November 2021​

  • Talking Points was included in the Mt. Hope High School Masqueraders' Family Dinners night of short plays. It was the school's first live production in two years! Read more about it in EastBayRI: HERE.

  • Keep the Music Going was received the Special Jury Award for Best International Short Film from the Rameshwaram International Film Festival!

​

  • From November 11-14, the Savannah College of Art and Design's performing arts department will be performing Date With Death in their 10-Minute Play Festival.

  • This December, the directing students at Iowa State University will be performing A Clue in the Library and Date With Death as part of their final project showcase!

​

  • In December, the Texas A&M theatre department will be performing Date With Death as part of their 10 Minute Play Festival!

  • Roaring Epiphany Production Company presents "Steve and Tom Part 3: Awkward Encounters" featuring four brand new plays by REPC resident writers Steven Hayet and Thomas J.   • On July 17th, Dinosaur was be part of Talking It Out, a virtual theatre festival supporting mental health awareness. Directed by Anthony J. Piccione and starring the talented Mia Rose Kavensky & Amanda Ribnick, half the proceeds from the event were donated to the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

​

  • Keep the Music Going was named an Official Selection of the Astoria Film Festival in Queens, NY this October! 

​

  • Cone Man Running in Houston, TX included The Pineapple Line, a five minute play about taboos like putting pineapple on pizza, in their 2021 Five Minute Mile.

  • Keep the Music Going was named an Official Selection of the Adirondack Film Festival in Glens Falls, NY this October!

  • The talented students of Brooklyn Prospect Charter School will be performing Everlasting Chocolate Therapy live on Zoom on June 9th as part of their final exam. In my opinion, they should all get an A+.

  • Keep the Music Going won 2 awards and received 4 nominations from the Top Indie Film Awards! Steven won Best Writing and the amazing Holly Curran took home Best Actress. Keep the Music Going also received nominations for Best Sci-Fi Short, Best Director (Luci Samp), Best Editing (Michelle Elise Harding), and Best Original Idea.

  • Roaring Epiphany Production Company presented "Steve and Tom II: This Time, It's Personal." featuring four brand new plays by REPC resident writers Steven Hayet and Thomas J.   • On February 25, as part of their weekly reading series, Theatre Unmasked performed George Orwell's 1989: A "Swift" Ten-Minute Adaptation alongside Kerri Kochanski's A Natural Obsession and Allie Costa's Tofurkey Day.

  • On February 20th, Steven will have a brand new play in Theatre Unmasked's PLACES! 10-Minute Dreams: A Virtual Play Festival. PLACES will have 10 brand-new short plays written, rehearsed, and performed in only one-week. Check out their Facebook Event HERE!

  • On March 20th, Joint Adventure will be part of Talking It Out, a virtual theatre festival supporting mental health awareness. Tickets are FREE, but donations are accepted, with half being donated to the National Alliance on Mental Illness. Tickets are currently available through Eventbrite HERE.
